Larynx Cancer

Larynx cancer, also known as laryngeal cancer, is a type of cancer that affects the tissues of the larynx, which is commonly referred to as the voice box. It usually develops in the squamous cells lining the larynx and can impact vocal cord function and speech. The main risk factors for larynx cancer include smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and exposure to certain workplace chemicals. Symptoms may include hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, a persistent sore throat, or a lump in the neck. Preservation of voice is of utmost importance in treament of Larynx Cancer. Early cancer of the vocal cord can be treated with laser surgery with results at par with radiotherapy. Voice rehablitation at the time of surgery is now routinely perfomed in cases where total Laryngectomy (Removal of Voice Box).
